Frequently Asked Questions about the new IY(UK) First Aid requirements:
Please note these only refer to IY(UK)’s requirements. If you need a first aid qualification for any other organisation (e.g. a gym you teach at), you will need to check with them whether they will accept this.
Question: I did a full day Emergency First Aid At Work course but that was over 3 years ago (so it’s now out of date). Do I need to do it again before I can do the “minimum requirement” course?
Answer: No, you can do any course that meets the minimum requirement (covers emergency life support, including CPR and defibrillator) now.
Question: I have been a teacher for some time and have never done a full day Emergency First Aid At Work course, do I need to do that now?
Answer: No, you can do any course that meets the minimum requirement (covers emergency life support, including CPR and defibrillator) now.
Answer: Yes, you don’t need a certificate (but do need to do the course with a recognised provider). At renewal you will be asked to enter course provider and date (and if you have a certificate, the number – this will be optional).
Answer: No, the IY(UK) requirement is every 3 years so that’s how often you need to do it.
